Bread Pudding

  • 2 cup(s) granulated sugar
  • 5 large eggs beaten
  • 2 cup(s) milk
  • 2 teaspoon(s) pure vanilla extract
  • 3 cup(s) cubed italian bread stale
  • 1/2 cup(s) packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup(s) butter softened
  • 1 cup(s) pecans chopped
  • For the sauce:
  • 1 cup(s) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup(s) (1 stick) butter melted
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 2 teaspoon(s) pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup(s) brandy


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Grease a 13x9x2" pan.
  3. Mix sugar, eggs, and milk in a bowl. Add vanilla.
  4. Pour over cubed bread and let sit for 10 minutes.
  5. In another bowl, mix and crumble together brown sugar, butter, and pecans.
  6. Pour bread mixture into greased pan.
  7. Sprinkle brown sugar mixture over the top and bake for 35 - 45 minutes, or until set.
  8. Remove from oven.

  9. Sauce:
  10. Mix sugar, butter, egg, and vanilla in a sauce pan over medium heat.
  11. Stir together until sugar is melted.
  12. Add brandy, stirring well. Pour over bread pudding.
  13. Serve warm or cold.
