Bourbon Sauce

Ingredients

3 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup whipping cream
2 tablespoons bourbon or whiskey
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon nutmeg

Preparation

Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat; whisk in flour, and cook, whisking constantly, 5 minutes. Stir in sugar and cream; cook, whisking constantly, 3 minutes or until thickened. Stir in bourbon, vanilla, and nutmeg; simmer 5 minutes.
