How to Make It

Step 1

Place ham in a shallow baking pan, fat side up. Bake, uncovered, at 325° for 1 1/2 hours.

Step 2

Combine bourbon, sugar, orange rind, and ground cloves in a small mixing bowl, stirring well; let stand 30 minutes, stirring frequently to dissolve sugar.

Step 3

Remove outer layer of skin from ham. Score fat in a diamond pattern, and stud with whole cloves.

Step 4

Baste ham with bourbon mixture. Return ham to oven, and bake, uncovered, at 350° for 1 hour, basting frequently with bourbon mixture.

Step 5

Transfer ham to a serving platter; cool slightly before slicing.

Step 6

Note: Cover and store leftover ham in refrigerator.
