For the perfect summer sipper, serve guests Blueberry and Basil Lemonade.
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
2 cups fresh blueberries
1/4 cup torn fresh basil leaves
6 tablespoons granulated sugar
4 cups water
How to Make It
Start with fresh lemon juice in a pitcher. Combine blueberries, basil leaves, and granulated sugar in pitcher with lemon juice; muddle. Add water; let stand 30 minutes. Press through a fine sieve into a medium bowl; discard solids. Return mixture to pitcher, and serve over ice.
This is no where near as good as the blackberry-vanilla vodka lemonade from the same issue!!! Still a great lemonade though! Like Bizzyboolou, I didn't muddle this, I used my vitamix, so no need to strain either! I also swapped out a cup of water for a cup of vodka...this one was for the adults only:)
SO good. A couple adjustments: instead of muddling, my husband used the immersion blender on everything except for the basil, then added the basil, chopped, & steeped as directed; also only added 3 cups of water instead of 4. Less water meant that we could later add a) more water, b) club soda, or c) gin or vodka. :) Made it for guests this weekend! What a hit!
