Blackberry Juice

Prep time 10 mins
Cook time 8 mins
Yield Makes about 2 cups
This homemade blackberry juice works well in any recipe that calls for blackberry juice.

  • 2 quarts fresh blackberries
  • 1/2 cup water

How to Make It

  1. Bring blackberries and water to a boil in a 3-quart saucepan. Reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes or until blackberries are soft.

  2. Mash blackberries with a potato masher or fork; pour through a large wire-mesh strainer into a bowl, using the back of a spoon to squeeze out the juice. Discard the pulp and seeds.

Cook's Notes

When fresh blackberries aren't available, substitute 2 (16-ounce) packages of frozen blackberries, thawed.
