Basting Sauce

Yield about 1 1/2 quarts


  • 1 quart vinegar
  • 1 cup lard
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium lemon, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt

How to Make It

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan; bring to a boil. Cook over medium heat 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  2. Note: Basting Sauce may be made ahead of time.
