Make the Lime-Basil Syrup ahead so it cools down and is ready when you are. Prep: 3 minutes.
Makes 1 serving
2 sprigs fresh mint
2 sprigs fresh basil
1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons fresh lime juice
4 ounces (1/2 cup) rum
1. Place first 3 ingredients in a sturdy old-fashioned glass. Crush to a pulp with a muddler or wooden spoon.
2. Add lime juice, Lime-Basil Syrup, and cracked ice. Stir in rum, and top with club soda.
