Basic Brown Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Basic Brown Stock
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

Preparation

  1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan; add flour, blending well. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture has browned. Gradually add Basic Brown Stock; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Stir in salt and pepper. Serve sauce hot with roast beef or steak.
