Basic Brown Sauce

Ingredients

1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups Basic Brown Stock
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper

Preparation

Melt butter in a medium saucepan; add flour, blending well. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture has browned. Gradually add Basic Brown Stock; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Stir in salt and pepper. Serve sauce hot with roast beef or steak.
