Ingredients

  • 1 (1-pound) lean flank steak
  • 1/4 cup sherry
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon minced peeled gingerroot
  • 1 teaspoon dark sesame oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • Vegetable cooking spray

Preparation

  1. Trim fat from steak. Combine steak and next 7 ingredients (steak through garlic) in a large heavy-duty zip-top plastic bag; seal bag. Marinate in refrigerator 8 hours, turning bag occasionally.
  2. Remove steak from bag; reserve marinade. Prepare grill or broiler. Place steak on grill rack or broiler pan coated with cooking spray, and cook 8 minutes on each side or until desired degree of doneness, basting frequently with reserved marinade. Place remaining marinade in a saucepan; cook over medium heat 1 minute.
  3. Cut steak diagonally across the grain into thin slices. Serve with warm marinade.
