Barbecue Sauce

Yield about 4 1/2 cups


  • 1 1/2 cups shortening, melted
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Dash of pepper
  • 1 small lemon, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 cups vinegar
  • 1/2 cup red wine vinegar

How to Make It

  1. Combine all ingredients in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Cook over medium heat 5 minutes. Use warm as a basting sauce.
