Baked Okra

1 pound okra, cleaned
1 large onion, chopped
1 medium-size green pepper, chopped
2 tablespoons bacon drippings
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
4 slices bacon


Cut okra crosswise into 1/2- inch slices. Sauté okra, onion, and green pepper in bacon drippings in a large skillet 5 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Stir in salt and pepper.

Spoon okra mixture into a 9- inch pie plate. Top with bacon slices. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
