i do not like cranberries except in the can jelled. so i used 1 1/2 cups raisins and 1 1/2 cups of cherries. i can not eat nuts, so i used cherries in their place. i soaked the dried fruit in hot water and then used the water for the cup of water in recipe. this turned out very good and i am glad i found this recipe. i know it is not the same recipe as posted but it was still delious.
Baked Apples
Serve these juicy baked apples over slices of Spiced Pumpkin Bread, warm bowls of oatmeal, or pancakes.

Ingredients
- 2 cups dried cranberries
- 1 1/4 cups coarsely chopped walnuts
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 6 Gala Apples, cored and chopped (about 3 pounds)
Preparation
- Combine all ingredients in a large microwave-safe dish. Microwave at high 20 minutes or until apples are soft, stirring occasionally.
Note:
Chop the nuts and apples the night before, and combine with the rest of the ingredients in the morning. Ida Red and McIntosh apples also work well.
