Avocado "Wings" with Buffalo Sauce

Adapted from Hass Avocado Board Michael Hasting's Healthier Superbowl Snacks a healthier, vegetarian alternative to chicken wings Large avocados are recommended for this recipe. A large avocado averages about 8 ounces. If using smaller or larger size avocados, adjust the quantity accordingly. This also can be served with a reduced-fat blue cheese or ranch dressing for dipping. Winston-Salem Journal

  • "Wings":
  • Buffalo Sauce:
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup(s) crushed corn cereal flakes
  • 1 teaspoon(s) fresh lime juice
  • 2 teaspoon(s) fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon(s) hot pepper sauce
  • 1/2 cup(s) light sour cream
  • 2 seede and peeled ripe, fresh Hass avocados and cut into 1/2-inch wedges
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) salt


  1. 1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. 2. Place sour cream in a small bowl.
  3. 3. Stir in lime juice, hot pepper sauce and salt until incorporated. Set sauce aside.
  4. 4. Sprinkle avocado wedges with lime juice, salt and cayenne pepper.
  5. 5. Roll avocado wedges in crushed cereal to coat. Place on a baking sheet.
  6. 6. Bake 5 to 6 minutes or until coating just barely begins to brown.
  7. 7. Serve warm with Buffalo Sauce.
