Apple Filling

Yield 3 3/4 cups


  • 4 cups dried apples
  • 2 2/3 cups water
  • 1/2 cup sugar

How to Make It

  1. Combine apples and water in a large saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 30 minutes or until tender. Cool.

  2. Mash apples slightly, and stir in sugar. Cool filling completely.

  3. Note: Flavor of stack cake is enhanced when stored for several days.
