1 (14.5-ounce) can pitted red tart cherries in water, drained
3 1/2 cups cubed, peeled Braeburn apple (about 3 large apples)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons butter or stick margarine, melted
2/3 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon powdered sugar (optional)
How to Make It
Combine first 3 ingredients in a large bowl; stir gently. Spoon into a 9-inch square pan.
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl; set aside. Combine butter and next 4 ingredients in a large bowl; stir well. Add flour mixture, and stir well. Pour batter over fruit. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes or until golden and a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Sprinkle powdered sugar over cobbler before serving, if desired. Serve warm.
