Appalachian Hiking Grits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup uncooked regular grits
  • 1/4 cup (1 ounce) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 teaspoons butter or stick margarine

Preparation

Bring first 5 ingredients to a boil. Stir in grits; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in cheese and butter.
