Almond-Stuffed Baked Apples with Caramel-Apple Sauce

    Does anyone know what could be substituted for the brandy and the Grand Marnier. I do not keep these items in stock and they are so expensive to buy, especially for the tiny amount needed. Thanks for your help.

    LOVED IT, great Fall dessert. I cut recipe in 1/2 for just the two of us, and we only had a 1/2 apple each so we have leftovers for tomorrow night's dessert. Substituted brown sugar for white (maybe use honey?), used a whole egg white, didn't bother to toast the almonds first, nor mess with making the sauce. Topped with a squirt of whipped cream.

    This was excellent. I didn't use the sauce. I Used granny smith apples because we couldn't get Braeburn, and I added a little apple juice and some raisins to the stuffing. We will definitely make this again!!

    Healthy, kid-friendly, easy to make! I did a few alterations to the recipe and it came out fantastic. I doubled the filling for each apple half, eliminated the alcohol/liqueur, and added a dollop of whipped cream. I will be adding this "dessert" to my rotations as a regular treat.
