Yield pastry for one 9- inch pie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon shortening
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons cold water

How to Make It

  1. Combine flour and salt; cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Using a fork, stir in enough cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time, to moisten dry ingredients. Shape dough into a ball. Chill .
