2-Inch Pie Pastries

Yield pastry for 6 dozen 2- inch pies

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup plus 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 9 to 10 tablespoons cold water

How to Make It

  1. Combine flour and salt in a large mixing bowl; cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle water evenly over flour mixture; stir with a fork until dry ingredients are moistened. Shape dough in a ball, and wrap in waxed paper. Chill at least 1 hour or until ready to use.
