A pilau, also know as a pilaf, is a rice dish flavored with other ingredients such as chopped vegetables, meats, poultry and
seafood. This hearty one-dish meal has chicken, smoked sausage, celery, onion, and carrot.
A traditional cassoulet is often chilled overnight and then baked for a couple of hours. In this shortcut version, the chicken,
sausage, and vegetables are cooked separately in a skillet and then combined with the beans and broth for a 5-minute simmer.
