Your New Favorite Recipes: August 2013

Join me each month as I find must-make recipes from each of our brands!

August brings many things: back-to-school parties, soaring temperatures, and a craving for popsicles. Luckily, it also brings juicy peaches, mouthwatering tomatoes, and long summer dinners served on the back porch. This month, our new favorite recipes celebrate everything we love about this season.

Risotto-Stuffed Tomatoes

Sunset is serving up a delicious meatless main or fresh summer side. Ripe tomatoes host rich risotto for a filling, flavorful dinner option. Personally, I'd like to try them in pint-sized cherry tomatoes. Risotto bites, anyone?

Zucchini Fries with Chipotle Mayonnaise

Wondering what to do with your bumper crop of zucchini? All You had the answer to your produce problems. Skip the endless veggie roasts and instead spice up summer's favorite vegetable with quick fry in the skillet before transferring them to the oven to finish cooking. Wouldn't these be a fun appetizer idea for a backyard cookout? I'd serve the zucchini fries with burgers.

Key Lime Icebox Cake

Sweet mercy! Have you ever seen a cake so gorgeous? The folks at Southern Living have done it again with a must-try cake recipe that's perfect for summer. The best part? Those aren't tiny, impossible cake layers; they're graham crackers. Even I can do that! Adding this to my must-make list of recipes for Labor Day.

Smoked Chicken Cobb Salad with Avocado Dressing

This fresh dream of a dinner from Cooking Light is definitely what's for Dinner Tonight in my house. It takes about 45 minutes from start to finish and, when it's done, you've got a main-dish chicken salad that's pretty enough for company. Or for me, my husband, and our infant daughter. Hey, maybe we'll break out the china!
