What Happened to the Cheese In McDonald's Cheese Sticks?

Here's a hint: We're betting no one left the cheese out of the cheese sticks. What happened, then? Well, frying is tricky. Have you ever gotten a (fast food) French fry that was all fry and no potato? There you have it, only, in this case, the cheese melted right out of the breading. A little training and a little less fry time for the sticks and McDonald's new babies should be back in the running.

But.

Does that mean you should order them? Personally, I prefer to stick with what I know, and I suggest others do the same. That means I'm not ordering the seaweed salad at the local taco joint or the lobster mac n cheese and the bbq dive.

McDonald's does many things well for their audience, but maybe cheese sticks won't be one of them. Don't cry for them, though. They still have burgers topped with amazingly delicious diced onions, stick fries, shakes, and breakfast to keep them going.

Want quick cheese sticks? We'll let you in on a secret: They're very easy to make. Start with a brick of cheese (or those single-wrapped cheese sticks you stick in your kiddo's lunchbox), add some breading, fry or bake, and serve with marinara.

Here are a few of our favorites.

We're not sure that a craving for fried cheese sticks is the best time to try to cut calories, but in case you're interested in saving while you splurge, these one-bite wonders are portioned at 91 calories per serving (3 cheese bites).  Chop a Mozzarella stick, bread, and bake. Our reviewers suggest freezing the bites before baking so that you end up with cheese bites and not cheese patties.

Fried Cheese Sticks

Want a little spice? Fried Cheese Sticks start with Monterey Jack cheese with jalapeno peppers. Slice, bread, fry, and dip.

What's one item you'll never order at a fast food restaurant?
