Butter chicken or murgh makhani is a popular Indian dish based in a spiced curry sauce. Easy and utterly delicious, the chicken is usually marinated for hours in a yogurt and spice mixture that injects plenty of bold flavor. Butter chicken is traditionally cooked in a tandoor or clay oven but may also be grilled, roasted, or pan-fried.
Our favorite version of this dish is prepared in a slow-cooker and simmered on low for 4-5 hours. The prep only takes 20 minutes and then you are free to come back later for a savory and satisfying dinner. Served over brown basmati rice or with naan flatbread, this meal is Indian-inspired comfort food at its best.
