Embrace the most important year of your life and party away on your birthday. Themed birthday parties take on a whole new meaning when it's a period in time that sets the tone.

When the birthday girl is a child of the sixties, the big day is about more than tie-dye. It's about having a blast with the girl and going retro with a fondue meal. Classic cocktails from the age of flower power and Camelot round out the menu for an unforgettable night.

The Bar
Just like the days when the Beatles were together, strong drinks call for lots of shaking, so set up the bar for self-serve martinis and slushies. Borrow a shaker so you'll have two ready to go. Have an ice bucket full of chipped ice and empty glasses lined up. A space on the kitchen counter is best for the bar in case there are spills when the shaking gets going.

The Food
Fondue is a masterpiece of the decade that practically invented parties. Borrow extra fondue pots and make a central dipping spot by arranging all the pots on trivets on the kitchen or dining room table. Buy several packs of wooden skewers to save on cleanup later. With lots of napkins ready, let the party happen around the table.

The Extras
Set the right mood for your party with a custom-made playlist to honor your guest of honor. Download the songs and play the best of the 1960's during the evening. You can download iTunes here.
