One thing I love about fall is how there seems to be a caramel drizzle on everything. To me, there can never be enough drippy caramel on top of cakes, ice cream, or foamy lattes. While this Double-Caramel Turtle Cake would be delicious and impressive for any occasion, such as a birthday, family get-togethers, or just because, some people have even made it for Christmas day!
The cake itself is an incredibly moist chocolate cake. The caramel frosting and caramel drizzle take it over the top! Plus the chopped and toasted pecans don't hurt either. Several people who made this cake and wrote a review said they used dark chocolate cocoa powder in place of the regular unsweetened cocoa powder and it turned out just as great. If you're a big fan of pecans, you could add some more between the layers, or even in the cake batter! I don't know anyone who would turn down something with "Double-Caramel" in the title, but leaving the frosting off the sides of the cake seems like a good choice. With it between the layers and just on top, plus the caramel sauce, the entire cake as a whole isn't too sweet. Plus, it's a Cooking Light recipe, so it's lighter than other full-fat cakes! But if you're a frosting-lover like myself, you can definitely cover the entire cake if you like.
Prepare to receive rave reviews if you make this cake!
