In the wake of New Year's resolutions to eat lighter, exercise more, and lead an overall healthier lifestyle, the Super Bowl couldn't come at a worse time for those who are getting in the groove of their new found routine. I'll admit, though I had great intentions on New Year's day, I have not stuck to those goals as well as I would have liked - but that doesn't mean I can't start now.

I've recently found some flavored popcorn recipes that are a great alternative to heavy Super Bowl appetizers and can also serve as a great snack when you get those late night, mid-diet cravings. It's all about keeping the salt minimal, using butter sparingly, and adding creative combinations of spices and flavor to make a delicious and crowd pleasing snack. Try making different batches of flavors and leaving them in bowls around the house for guests to munch on during your party. It's quick, easy, and satisfies the urge to indulge come game day. You can even whip up a batch of lightened caramel corn for the sweet tooths in the house!
