Today, the world lost an icon: Gene Wilder, the star of the 1971 film "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" (and countless other classics such as "Young Frankenstein"). Wilder was 83-years-old and reportedly passed away due to complications from Alzheimer's disease at his home in Stamford, Connecticut.

To honor Wilder and say thank you for introducing most all of us to a chocolate flooded fantasy land we believed we might run away to at some point during childhood, we collected 11 candy recipes we think Willy Wonka himself might like. It's a tribute that only seems right:

Salted Chocolate-Pecan Toffee

Candy Brownies

DIY Pixie Sticks

No-Bake Chocolate-Covered Peanut Butter Balls

Mocha Almond Fudge

Butterscotch Caramels

Chocolate Truffles

Honey Taffy

Triple Chocolate-Covered Peanut Clusters

Chocolate-Caramel Bark with Quinoa

Chocolate Pecan Pie Truffles

Rest in peace, Wonka.
