1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Preparation

Beat butter and shortening at medium speed of an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to butter mixture; beat until blended. Cover and chill dough at least 2 hours.
