Vanilla Cream

Omit rum extract, and add a shot of rum to each serving for a potent refresher.

1 1/2 quarts milk
1 (3.4-ounce) package vanilla instant pudding mix
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons rum extract
2 pints vanilla ice cream
1 cup whipping cream, whipped
Freshly grated nutmeg


Whisk together milk and vanilla pudding mix in a bowl until pudding mix dissolves (about 2 minutes).

Cover and chill mixture 15 minutes or until thickened.

Add sugar, vanilla, and rum extract, stirring until sugar dissolves.

Cover and chill at least 1 hour. Pour mixture into cups, and top each serving with a scoop of ice cream and a dollop of whipped cream; sprinkle with freshly grated nutmeg.
