5 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons salt
1 cup plus 1 1/2 teaspoons shortening
6 to 7 tablespoons cold water
Combine flour and salt; cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. With a fork, gradually stir in enough cold water to moisten dry ingredients. Shape pastry dough into a ball.
