Tomato-Wine Sauce

1/2 teaspoon sugar
4 medium tomatoes, peeled and cut into wedges
1/4 cup chopped green onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, divided
1/2 cup Chablis or other dry white wine
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper


Sprinkle sugar over tomato wedges; set aside. Sauté onion and garlic in 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet; add wine, and stir until well blended. Simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add prepared tomatoes and remaining ingredients; cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until butter melts.
