Strawberries In Wine

1 1/2 quarts fresh strawberries, washed, hulled, and halved
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
1 cup Concord or other sweet red wine
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
1 cup whipping cream
2 tablespoons sugar


Place strawberry halves in a large bowl; sprinkle with powdered sugar. Combine wine and lemon rind; pour over strawberries. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour.

Beat whipping cream until foamy; gradually add 2 tablespoons sugar, beating until soft peaks form.

Spoon strawberry mixture equally into 8 stemmed dessert glasses. Top with sweetened whipped cream. Serve immediately.
