Spanish Hominy

1 medium onion, chopped
2 tablespoons chopped green pepper
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons bacon drippings
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can whole tomatoes, drained and chopped
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can hominy, drained
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper


Sauté onion and green pepper in bacon drippings in a large skillet until tender. Add tomatoes; cook over medium heat 15 minutes. Add remaining ingredients; cook an additional 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
