Sliced Tomato with Balsamic Vinaigrette

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
2 teaspoons chopped fresh basil
1 teaspoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 small clove garlic, crushed
1 large tomato, sliced
2 red leaf lettuce leaves
1 (1/4-inch-thick) slice sweet onion, separated into rings


Combine first 5 ingredients in a jar; cover tightly, and shake vigorously. Set aside.

Arrange tomato slices evenly on 2 lettuce-lined plates. Arrange onion over tomato. Drizzle vinegar mixture evenly over salads.
