Skillet-Fried Balsamic Apples and Sweet Onion

Balsamic vinegar and onion give this dish a savory note that's perfect with grilled chicken or pan-fried pork chops. It's also delicious sprinkled with lightly salted, roasted pecans.

3 tablespoons butter
2 large sweet onions, sliced
5 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced (about 2 1/4 lb.)
2/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

Cook: 20 Minutes

1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat; add onions, and sauté 5 minutes. Add apples, brown sugar, and balsamic vinegar, and sauté 15 to 20 minutes or until apples are tender.
