Royal Icing is used as a decorative icing for our Cut-Out Butter Cookies.
Makes about 1 1/4 cups

4 cups powdered sugar
3 tablespoons meringue powder
1 tablespoon clear vanilla extract
Combine all ingredients and 4 tablespoons water in a mixing bowl. Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until firm enough to pipe but still spreadable. (Cover with a damp cloth to prevent a crust from forming while icing.)
