Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar
3/4 cup butter
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons shortening
1/4 cup ice water

Preparation

Sift together dry ingredients in a medium mixing bowl. Cut in butter and shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle with ice water, and stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Shape pastry into a ball. Chill at least 1/2 hour.
