6 slices bacon
6 medium-size green peppers, seeded and sliced into rings
8 medium tomatoes, peeled and sliced
4 medium onions, sliced
2 cups sliced fresh okra
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
3 cups soft breadcrumbs


Cook bacon until crisp. Remove bacon, reserving bacon drippings. Crumble bacon, and set aside.

Pour 1 tablespoon bacon drippings into a 13- x 9- x 2-inch baking dish; tilt to coat surface. Layer green pepper rings, tomato slices, onion slices, and okra in baking dish. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Top vegetables with bacon and breadcrumbs; pour remaining drippings over breadcrumbs. Bake at 325° for 1 hour or until vegetables are tender.
