Enjoy warm and tangy Lemon Sauce over slices of commercial fat-free pound cake or angel food cake.

3 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/3 cup water
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice


Combine sugar and cornstarch in a small saucepan, stirring well. Gradually stir in water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened and bubbly. Remove from heat; stir in lemon rind and lemon juice.
