Kentucky Lace Cakes

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups cornmeal
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons bacon drippings
2 cups buttermilk

Preparation

Combine all ingredients, and mix well. Drop batter by 2 tablespoonfuls onto a hot, lightly greased griddle. Turn cakes when tops are bubbly and edges are browned. Serve immediately.
