Herbed Steak Rub

1 1/2 cups

1/2 cup dried thyme
1/2 cup dried basil
1/2 cup dried rosemary
2 1/2 tablespoons salt
2 1/2 tablespoons fresh ground pepper
2 tablespoons ground red pepper


Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, and crush with the back of a spoon. Store in an airtight container.

Directions for gift card: Rub 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons Herbed Steak Rub over a 6-ounce beef tenderloin steak. Brush an ovenproof skillet with 1 tablespoon olive oil, and place over medium-high heat until hot. Add steak, and cook 2 to 3 minutes on each side. Immediately place skillet in a 400° oven, and bake 8 to 10 minutes or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest portion registers 145° (medium-rare).

Note: Rub may also be used on pork and chicken.
