Combine whipping cream and sugar in a medium saucepan; stir well. Cook over medium heat just until mixture comes to a boil (180°). Remove from heat; set aside.
Combine egg yolks, flour, vanilla, and salt in a medium mixing bowl; beat well. Stir in one - third of hot whipping cream mixture; add to remaining hot whipping cream mixture, stirring well.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until slightly thickened. Remove from heat; add vanilla ice cream, and stir until ice cream melts. Serve sauce warm or chilled over pudding.
