Green Peas

1 cup water
4 cups shelled fresh green peas
1 head lettuce, shredded
1 parsley sprig
4 green onions, sliced
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 tablespoon heavy cream
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt


Bring water to a boil in a large saucepan; add peas, lettuce, parsley, onions, and butter. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and cook 30 minutes or until tender. Remove parsley. Stir in heavy cream, sugar, and salt; cook 1 minute.
