Glazed Onions

We enjoyed these small white onions with pork chops.
6 to 8 servings

1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
1/8 teaspoon pepper
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
3 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 bay leaf
2 (16-ounce) packages frozen small white onions
3/4 cup raisins


Bring first 9 ingredients to a boil in a large skillet, stirring until sugar dissolves. Add onions and raisins; return to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer, stirring often, 10 minutes. Uncover and cook over medium heat, stirring often, 20 to 25 minutes or until glazed. Remove and discard bay leaf. Serve warm.
