Ginger-Hibiscus Syrup adds exotic floral notes to this refreshing cocktail, West Indies Paintbrush.


Makes 2/3 cups

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
7 cardamom pods, crushed
2 tablespoons peeled and finely chopped ginger
1 tablespoon dried hibiscus flowers

Total: 15 Minutes
Bring sugar, water, cardamom, ginger, and dried hibiscus flowers to a boil in a small saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring often; boil 2 minutes. Cover and let stand 10 minutes. Pour through a fine wire-mesh strainer, discarding solids. Store chilled in airtight container up to 2 weeks.
