German Chocolate Frosting

frosting for one 9-inch square cake

1/2 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine
2 egg yolks, lightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup chopped pecans


Combine milk, sugar, butter, and egg yolks in a medium saucepan; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened. Remove from heat, and stir in vanilla, coconut, and pecans. Let cool completely.
