1. Combine first 5 ingredients in a shallow dish, stirring well with a whisk. Add bread to dish; let stand 5 minutes, turning once.
2. Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add bread slices; cook 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until browned and crisp. Serve with sugar-free syrup.
Note: The bread we analyzed for in this recipe has 9 grams of carbohydrate and 3 grams of fiber per slice.
