English Biscuits With Cinnamon Butter

4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons baking powder
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 1/3 cups milk


Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl; stir well. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Combine eggs and milk; add to flour mixture, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened.

Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead lightly 20 times. Roll dough to 3/4-inch thickness; cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 450° for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve biscuits hot with Cinnamon Butter.
