Turn up the Texas on this sweet and spicy barbecue sauce by stirring in 1/4 cup of reserved brisket drippings just before serving.

Makes 2 1/2 cups

1 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup ketchup
1/3 cup tomato paste
1/4 cup yellow mustard
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon hot sauce (such as Tabasco)
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon granulated garlic
1 tablespoon kosher salt
2 teaspoons hickory liquid smoke
1 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup honey


Hands-on: 15 Minutes
Total: 45 Minutes

Stir together first 11 ingredients in a medium saucepan. Stir in sugar and honey, and bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes. Use immediately, or cool completely, and refrigerate in an airtight container up to 1 week.
